Fairplay, Md., passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at her home.She was born on March 25, 1918, in Fairplay to the late John Henry and Irene Mae Mongan Jones.She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Woodrow Byers, on Jan. 24, 1976.She was a homemaker.Evelyn was a member of Manor Church of the Brethren in Tilghmanton, Md. She was a member of the senior citizens group.She also was a member of W.D. Byron Post 1936 VFW Auxiliary of Hagerstown, Md., and Williamsport Volunteer Fire and EMS.She enjoyed playing bingo, taking car rides, enjoying the scenery, going out to dinner, and spending time with her family.Evelyn was the last surviving aunt on the Byers side of the family.She is survived by her daughter, Dolly M. McKimmy of Williamsport; daughter, Mary B. Carter of Williamsport; son, Wallace F. "Hammer" Byers and his wife, Carmen, of Williamsport; daughter-in-law, Dottie Byers of Williamsport; sister, Freda F. Dayton of Fairplay; daughters-in-law, Linda Byers and Dottie Byers; son-in-law, Ronnie Hays; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by three daughters, Patricia A. Hays, Emma J. Divelbiss and Dorothy J. Staley; two sons, John D. Byers and Wayne E. "Jack" Byers; two sisters, B. Jane Garrish and Mildred G. Easterday; and six brothers, John Jones, Tom Jones, Mike Jones, Eugene Jones, William Jones and Bob Jones.The family will receive friends at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, on Thursday, April 19, 2018, from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral home will be open after 9 a.m. on Thursday for the convenience of family and friends.Funeral services will be held at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, on Friday, April 20, 2018, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Joy Zepp officiating. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Williamsport.Memorial donations may be made to Manor Church of the Brethren, 18511 Manor Church Road, Boonsboro, MD 21713; or Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.
